A Diamond's ShapeThe shape of the diamond is merely what it implies "the fundamental
shape." When viewed from the top, the most widespread diamonds are the
round, marquise, oval, pear, heart, emerald, princess and radiant. The
most common shapes of diamonds purchased today are the brilliant cuts or
hybrid cuts, that is, with the exception of the emerald cut. In terms of
the cost of a diamond, the round brilliant is at the top of the list.
The square cuts generally cost about 10% less for a diamond of
comparable weight and quality. |
